Since Thermosetting powder coating equipment was put into use in the mid-1950s, it has been steadily developed on metal surfaces, forming a continuous and flat coating film after melting and solidification. Initially, thermoplastic resin was used, but in the past thirty years, the development of thermosetting powder coatings has opened up a broader field. With the increasing standardization of environmental protection by the country, the rapid growth of thermosetting powder coatings is an inevitable trend in order to reduce air and water pollution, as well as the continuous increase in basic raw materials and labor costs. Compared to traditional industrial liquid paints, powder coatings have significant commercial advantages.
Advantages of Thermosetting powder coating equipment:
Ready to use - the powder can be used immediately when needed, without the need to add any ingredients such as solvents or additives. This saves time and eliminates mutation factors. It is easier to control than liquid paint to achieve satisfactory coating effect.
Reduce fire hazard - because the powder does not contain solvents, the fire hazard is reduced, saving the factory's safety prevention costs, reducing insurance premiums, and reducing working hours. Powder, due to its solvent-free nature, does not need to comply with the "Highly Flammable Liquids and Liquefied Petroleum Gas Regulations (1972)" or similar regulations and regulations regulating flammable liquids. The use of powder may cause dust explosions, please refer to Part 6 "Safety Recommendations".
Cost waste without solvents: environmentally friendly - cost waste without solvents, with a usage rate 70% higher than traditional liquid paints. During Thermosetting powder coating equipment, it will evaporate and cannot be recycled. Many parts of the world have started legislation to prohibit emissions to the atmosphere, so many places are forced to increase costs by installing post combustion machines and hiring people to remove them.
Legislation to regulate air pollution and emissions is very important. The German "TA Luft" regulation is an example. It stipulates that the content of emitted gases and vapors is divided into three levels. Each level specifies that the concentration of emitted gases cannot equal or even exceed the MASS level.
No problem with sewage sedimentation - liquid paint systems are often equipped with water curtain spray rooms. The spilled paint is emulsified in water, and some of the water is directly discharged into the ditch, while others settle in the sludge pond. The powder does not have these issues and additional costs.
No air pollution - spray spilled powder can be recycled and does not need to be released into the atmosphere.
Reduce the health threat to operators - as the powder does not contain solvents, it significantly reduces irritation to the nose, mouth, and throat, which is particularly evident in liquid injection workshops in summer. When all liquid paint adheres to the operator's skin, it should be washed off with solvent, and then emulsified and cleaned with hot water and soap. Some environments even require specialized hand sanitizers. This cleaning stimulates the skin. Although individuals are sensitive to certain types of powders, general powders do not irritate the skin. Powder can easily be washed off the skin with warm water.
However, in the current context of global macroeconomic development, factors such as slower growth in the powder coating market and intensified competition among Thermosetting powder coating equipment will accelerate the pace of powder coating enterprise alliances and mergers. International large paint groups have frequent mergers and acquisitions, such as Akzo Nobel, PPG, and Nippon, all of which have related investment activities. Domestic Lianxin Technology has also frequently strengthened its layout. In 2019, the market concentration ratio of the coating industry will be further improved. The stronger the stronger, the weaker the weaker, and the "Matthew effect" will become more obvious. In 2018, Akzo Nobel completed six acquisitions across Europe, North America, and South America; PPG has completed three major acquisitions, accelerating its evolution and expansion in weak areas of paint segmentation.
From a domestic perspective, after more than 30 years of promotion and application of powder coatings, the Yangtze River Delta region has formed in China, including provinces and cities such as Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Anhui, and Jiangsu. Among them, the larger powder enterprises are concentrated in Zhejiang, Anhui, and Jiangsu provinces. Akzo Nobel, Huacai, Wenzhou Libang, Yushi, Changming and other enterprises in Zhejiang Province; Anhui Province's Aishide Huajia, Meijia, Sangruisi and other enterprises; Enterprises such as Lianxin Technology in Hunan Province and Huaguang and Tiger in Jiangsu Province.
The the Pearl River Delta region mainly includes Guangdong, Fujian, Hunan, Guangxi, Hainan and other provinces, of which Guangdong is the province with the highest density of larger powder enterprises among the provinces and cities in China, and the enterprises include Akzo Nobel, Optimus, Huajiang, Wisdom, DeFusheng and other enterprises; Enterprises such as Wan'an and Wanshun in Fujian Province. The Bohai Rim region includes provinces and cities such as Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shandong, and Liaoning, with larger powder enterprises concentrated in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, and Shandong, as well as enterprises such as Bond Hansen in Beijing; Tianjin's Lipang, Xiangsheng and other enterprises; Meier and other enterprises in Shandong. These three regions have become the main regions for the production and use of powder coatings in China.
Specifically, according to incomplete statistics from the Paint Procurement Network, in 2018, the total sales volume of China's top 100 powder coating industry enterprises was 843770 tons, a year-on-year increase of 6.12%, accounting for 47.94% of the industry's total sales volume. This indicates that the industry share is relatively scattered, and there are a large number of small and medium-sized enterprises in the industry. In the 2018 Top 100 Powder Coatings Sales List, the total sales volume of foreign-funded enterprises was 208800 tons, accounting for 24.7%, while the sales volume of domestic enterprises accounted for 75.3%. Compared to the previous year, the sales of foreign-funded enterprises have slightly decreased, and Akzo Nobel, Aiyue Group, and Aishide Huajia Coatings (China) still rank in the top three of the powder coatings 100 list. Overall, although domestic enterprises such as Lianxin Technology and Wan'an Industry have been catching up in recent years, the situation of foreign enterprises occupying a large market share and leading position for a long time has not changed significantly. Data shows that currently, Chinese Thermosetting powder coating equipment industry enterprises are mainly distributed in East China and South China. In terms of specific provinces, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Guangdong rank among the top, with a proportion of 27.12% in the number of enterprises 12.03% and 10.25%. Overall, the distribution of industry enterprises is relatively concentrated.
In 2019, the proportion of domestic powder coating enterprises with a production scale greater than 10000 tons was about 22%, the proportion of enterprises with a production scale between 5000-10000 tons was 37%, and the number of enterprises with a production scale between 100-5000 tons was the highest, accounting for 41%. Overall, there is a trend of further concentration in the scale of Chinese Thermosetting powder coating equipment enterprises.
